The School of Engineering Management and Continuing Education was established on 1^st April, 2026, evolving from the erstwhile Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension. The School functions under the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law, and Management.

The origin of the department dates back to 1983, when the Adult, Continuing Education and Extension Centre of Jadavpur University was established with the support of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its primary objective was to provide continuing education opportunities to workers, technicians, and professionals. In November 2001, the Centre was upgraded to a full-fledged academic department under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
