Centre for Counselling Services and Studies in Self Development (CCSSS)

Centre for Counselling Services and Studies in Self Development is one of the centers of Jadavpur University. For the last two decades, it has been providing counseling services to the students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and their families. It has also conducted training courses on Life Skills Training, Interpersonal Conflict Management, Stress Management, and Psychological Counselling. The center has also organized a number of training workshops, seminars, awareness programs, UGC-sponsored short-term courses, etc. at regular intervals.

Our future plan:
1. To continue providing psychological counseling services as well as psychiatric consultation free of cost for students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and their family members.
2. To continue training psychological counselors with specialized knowledge and skills in stress management
3. To continue organizing workshops and seminars on various topics related to mental health
4. To continue collaboration with other academic institutions regarding various training programs on mental health
5. To continue outreach activities in school mental health and community mental health
6. To continue publications in the field of mental health
7. Research activity in the field of mental health
8. Extend our mental health services to the community members beyond the campus.

• One office room including two desktop Computer, a Projector, a Laptop and two Printer• Two rooms for Counselling session

Achievements

• Collaborative Programme with Basanti Devi College, Ramkrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan, and Adarsha Hardayal Nag Adarsha Vidyalaya. • Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata has offered to work on four inmates of correctional homes in our state, we are prepared to do this work but due to the COVID situation, we are not able to start our program at the moment.• The students of every batch of the 2 years P.G. Diploma course in Counselling and Stress Management were assigned shortly to Calcutta Medical College and Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital for internship.
