The department is comparatively new, being established as late as 1989. It was concurrently set up with the second campus of the university in Salt Lake. The primary aim of the department is to impart application-oriented education to undergraduate students to equip them of Construction Management. Construction Management (including Computer Applications), Construction Plant and Machinery, Concrete Technology, Materials & Process of Construction, Repair & Rehabilitation of Structures are the principal subjects of study as offered by the syllabus of the construction technology at Jadavpur University. The department is now developing as a centre for soil, material & concrete testing including NDT and for industrial institute interaction in the fields of Construction Management, Repair and Rehabilitation of Structures.
