The Department of Education, Jadavpur University, since its inception in 2008, has been incessantly engaged in offering comprehensive and accessible teachers-training courses for the students of Jadavpur University, and also numerous other institutions. The vision behind this endeavor is to equip our country with talented and able teachers – both at the secondary and tertiary levels of education – whilst concurrently fostering an enhanced education infrastructure, and better learning environments, for the growing generations. Possessed of a team of qualified and hard-working faculty members, the department offers courses at the undergraduate (B.Ed), the postgraduate (M.A. Education), and even at the postgraduate research (M.Phil. in Education) and doctorate (Ph.D in Education) levels of academic pursuit. The department, in its entirety, is committed to exerting a decisive influence in shaping the future of education in India. Initially housed in the PG Arts building of the Jadavpur University campus, it has now been relocated to the newly constructed Nazrul Bhavan. The interdisciplinary factor adds more dimension to the department, adding to the plethora of ideas from varied fields making the scope of the subject more comprehensive and encompassing all the dimensions of the literal meaning behind the idea of education. The department elucidates the concept of learning which will further help the learners in the various walks of life, the teaching learning process is not only educative but also amusing. From regular courses to scholarly courses and to vocational courses the department has it all, making the Education department of Jadavpur University diverse and the integrity binds the teachers and the learners in the process of educating oneself, making the idea of Education pragmatic and realistic.
