The Department of Geography under the Faculty of Science has been offering undergraduate (B.Sc.) degree in Geography since 2015. This has been a long-standing vision of the Faculty of Science that has ultimately become fruitful. The Department has the vision to make it one of the best departments in West Bengal for which several plans and programs are being chalked out like preparations of the most updated syllabus in Geography under the Science Faculty and students will be offered science subsidiary subjects allied to Geography. The Department also plans to develop a state of art Remote Sensing and GIS laboratory for the students so that they can have access to the most updated knowledge of this branch of Geography, which is emerging as a potential area of recruitment. The Department has started the Post Graduate degree (M.Sc.) course in Geography from the academic year 2018-19. The Department also offers a Ph.D. program in Geography which commenced from 2014-15. Future plans also include the offering of a diploma course in Remote Sensing and GIS and surveying. The Department is hosted on the third and fourth floor of the Meghnad Saha Bhavan (Integrated Science Building) of the main campus of Jadavpur University.
