The Master of bioengineering Program is broad based and is devoted to application of engineering principles to the understanding of human body machine in health and disease, its medical care, its performance and impact in normal and hazardous environment. The principle areas of focus are biomaterials for orthopaedic, dental application, rehabilitation and medical instruments. Faculty research areas include biomechanics, tribology, artificial joints, tooth and bone implant design and also rehabs-aids and biomedical instrumentation, design and development.

There was a need for an interdisciplinary school which will combine medical field and engineering field for better flow of knowledge among these fields for betterment of living standard of mankind. Considering this idea of University a “Professor of BioEngg.“ – Post Sanctioned by UGC during 5th Plan Period. Subsequently there was appointment of “Prof. Bioengg.” and establishment of Centre of Bioengg in 1988. This centre was dedicated for the research in the field of Biomedical engineering. Subsequenly PG Course “Master of Biomedical Engg.“ proposed to UGC & AICTE. After getting required approval from concerned authority PG Course started from 1996. Thus “School of BioSc. & Engg’’formed. With commencement of PG course school is producing Biomedical Engineering with a complete knowledge in the biomedical field. This M.E. (Biomedical Engineering) is a four Semesters (2 years) course. It is an AICTE approved course from day one. Its intake was 11 per year and now it become 15 per year. This school has following sanctioned posts. Currently there are two permanent faculties are there.
