Admissions

Admission to Jadavpur University, though extremely competitive, is through a completely transparent and student-friendly process, from application to publication of admission test results; details are available to anyone who enquires. The process is reviewed annually and improvements are implemented (e.g. making applications to all courses at the Faculty of Arts online) on a regular basis. Students from backward and disadvantaged sections of society, especially those from remote rural areas, are encouraged to apply and there are many schemes and programmes for such students.

Hostel Facilities

Jadavpur University is primarily a non-residential university. However, the university provides hostel facilities to outstation students and also financially challenged students of UG, PG, and Ph.D. There are 13 (4 for Girls and 9 for Boys) hostels with provision for accommodating over 1600 students. Efforts are being made for extension of the existing buildings and construction of new buildings for students’ accommodation. There is an exclusive hostel for Research Scholars.
