Location

Jadavpur University is in Kolkata, a large and teeming Indian metropolis, with a vibrant cultural tradition. It stands on Raja S. C. Mallick Road in the southern parts of the city. It is well connected through all means of surface transport. The main campus stands on a sprawling 58 acres on Raja S.C. Mallick Road – 8 km by local rail from Sealdah Railway Station; 15 km. by road from Howrah Station and 25 km from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and 3 km by road from Metro Railway (urban speed transport system) Station at Tollygunge. The address is 188 Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Kolkata – 700032.

The University has a second campus of 26 acres at Salt Lake which also is well connected from the major terminal points. The address is Salt Lake City , Block-LB, Plot No. 8, Sector – III, Kolkata – 700106.

The rapid growth of the University created a demand for more space. The Government of West Bengal granted the University 21.3 acres of land at Block LB, Plot No. 8, Bidhan Nagar (Salt Lake City), Kolkata – 700098, 13 km away from the main campus at Jadavpur. At present classes in full time degree courses in Construction Engineering . Instrumentation Engineering, Printing Engineering, Information Technology, Power Engineering and Information Technology are being held on this campus. The Eastern Regional Offices of the UGC and the Inter-University Consortium for Atomic Energy are also located on this campus.

Affiliated Institutions

The University has two specialized institutions affiliated to it:

• Institute of Business Management (managed by the National Council of Education, Bengal)
• J. D. Birla Institute

It also grants research degrees to students from 13 noted national research centres and extends affiliation to courses run by such institutions as Jadavpur Vidyapith College of Education and Marine Engineering and Research Institute.
