About

I completed my first two degrees from Jadavpur University and my PhD from the University of St Andrews. Having taught at the University of Edinburgh, and then at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi, I rejoined JU as Assistant Professor of English. My primary research and teaching interests include early modern studies, medieval poetry, law and literature, early modern and 20th c. political theory, history of ideas, translation.

    I am part of Fact or Value (https://factorvalue.org/about/)-- a new online forum based in Calcutta, with a focus on politics, literature and intellectual history. Our effort is to trace the genealogies of ideas which inform the inheritance of the human condition.
