Mukherjee’s primary research is on the ‘Indian film industry’; as well, she is involved with database building, archival projects, and research on technological transformations in India.

About

Mukherjee joined St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Calcutta, in December 1998, and headed the MCVP & FS Departments unto January 2007. She joined Jadavpur University in February 2007.

Subjects Taught

• Mukherjee teaches Ph.D courses, and ‘Indian Cinema: Industry and Popular forms’, ‘Film Language’ courses at the MA level. She also teaches the M.Phil courses at the School of Women’s Studies.

Research Interests

• Lately, Mukherjee has researched and published on sound, music and voice in Indian films. Her present study comprises the ‘city, cinemas, urban cultures and the digital context’.
