Santwan Chattopadhyay

Dr. Santwan Chattopadhyay is the Professor and Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He completed two full terms as Head of the erstwhile Department of Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension of Jadavpur University. He had also been the coordinator of M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication in Jadavpur University. He was a gold medalist in M.A. in Journalism from the University of Calcutta and was also awarded Ph.D. from there. His Doctoral thesis dealt with Municipal Public Relations. His several research articles have been published in various journals. He has also been frequent contributor of opinion pieces. As a media educator, he is associated with many Universities as external member of the Board of Studies and/or Doctoral Committees. He has also served as the Editor of the J.U. Journal for Communication, Society and Outreach. His specialization areas are theoretical framework of Mass Communication, Public Relations, Political Communication and Development Communication.
