Udayan Bhattacharya

Dr. Udayan Bhattacharya is a Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. With 28+ years of teaching experience, he is presently serving as a Professor since September 27, 2012. He is a former Dean of the Faculty Council of Arts at Jadavpur University and has supervised 18 Ph.D. candidates and over 100 master’s dissertations. Dr. Bhattacharya has authored over 90 research articles and six books. He has led three major research projects as principal investigator and served as the joint coordinator of a digital library project with a budget of 2 crores. He has been a member of school boards, boards of studies, and doctorate committees at several universities across India. Additionally, he has participated in numerous selection committees for different universities, colleges, and service commissions. He has held various significant positions, including former Head of the Department of Library & Information Science at Jadavpur University, member of the Executive Committee and Court of Jadavpur University, and former Chief Editor of “Librarian,” the Journal of Library & Information Science at Jadavpur University. Dr. Bhattacharya has reviewed for several journals and coordinated ten UGC-sponsored courses for college and university teachers. He has organized several international and national conferences as Organizing Secretary and served as President of Universal Briefing, a forum for information exchange. Dr. Bhattacharya has delivered over 200 lectures in various academic forums and chaired numerous academic discourses.
